Chief Executive Officer

Christopher Bennett

I have been the CEO of Perthyn since 2001.

I originally began working with people with disabilities when I was 14 as a volunteer.

I went to South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education and qualified in 1985.

My first full time job was in day services developing new patterns of services in the new Rhondda Vanguard Area following the introduction of the All Wales Strategy. I then moved to managing supported living services.

In 1991 I moved to South Glamorgan County Council to set up their Emergency Intervention Services in partnership with Health Services and the Voluntary Sector. I held a number of development officer roles involving strategic planning and policy development – including Challenges and Responses and contributing to policy development an all Wales Basis.

I have been a member of several Joint Planning Boards and external bodies.

In 1996 was offered the Project Manager role to support the closure of Ely Hospital.I then held a senior commissioning and planning role until 2000 when I took a leap of faith and moved across to the Voluntary sector. I have a wide range of experience from providing direct care and support to planning commission and providing services.
