I am the Director of Financial Services for Perthyn and have held the post since January 2000. I am a member of the Executive Management Team andresponsible for the management of the financial services staff and all its financial systems including, payroll, internal audit and tenant services and for the servicing of the Finance Scrutiny Committee.
I have experience spanning over 22 years, with a background in local authority housing, finance and internal audit, during which time I undertook my professional qualifications in accounting.Later moving to a Registered Social Landlord to set up and introduce the concept of Internal Audit, a new post which was created to promote and apply the principles recommended from the Nolan Committee Report on governance and propriety.
I progressed within this organisation to the role of Finance Manager, where I was an active member of the Senior Management Team and was involved with the first ‘tenants choice stock transfer’ of local authority owned housing to a housing association in Wales and managed the related investment, cash flow and budget of a £20m dowry. I was also involved in setting up the organisations new group structure, successfully implementing the group accounting and financial systems prior to leaving to undertake my present role within Perthyn.
