Board of Trustees meeting Board of Trustees Meeting

What are Trustees?

Trustees are people who are entrusted to look after something for the benefit of others.”

In Perthyn the Trustees “govern” the Charity and the through the CEO the paid staff “manage” the Charity

Good Governance includes ensuring that we have clear aims and objectives and priorities, that leadership is demonstrated and appropriate safe guards for money and other assets are in place. To ensure we stay true to our values and beliefs at all times

I have been a trustee for Perthyn for 7 years. It is an entirely voluntary role and one which I thoroughly enjoy doing.

My experience and background is as follows:- From Grammar School I followed a Nursing career where I gained me S.R.N. or R.G.N. as it is now called and then, my R.M.N.
Following several university courses and degrees in teaching and management I finally became a Nurse Tutor.
In between that, I commissioned and worked in, what was called a 'Major Disaster Unit'. I also worked for some time with patients from Rampton Hospital. I have worked both in Wales and England and have a broad experience of care both in acute sector and the psychiatric sector. I also have teaching and management skills to share.

It is these skills and experience which I bring to Perthyn as a Trustee. Being a Trustee is about Governing.
Governance is about leadership and ensuring that the organisation is effectively managed.

Perthyn has an outstanding record of Care in the Community for Vulnerable People and I am proud to play a part in the organisation.

I have recently (in May, 2008) joined Perthyn as a Trustee and has spent more than forty years in the highly competitive world of global manufacturing and marketing. During this period I have held several senior management positions and have extensive experience of human resource management and the ethos of continuous improvement to maximise service delivery to a very demanding world wide customer base.

An engineer by training, I have seen many and varied changes in technology, law and accepted practices. To remain successful in a business environment, I have found that it is essential to embrace cost effective management in all areas and I have been successful in achieving this over the years.
