New Supported Living scheme in South Powys:
We began a new Contract to support a young lady within her own home in Ystradgynlais on the 1st July, 2008 following three months of transition work. Everything is progressing well to date and we are ensuring that we support her to maintain close contact with her family. The Support Manager for the scheme (Vicki Bland) confirmed that “all staff feel very positive about this, having had the opportunity to build relationships during the transition period”.
Update from West Wales:
Work continues to progress positively in relation to two Supported Living schemes which are being developed in Carmarthenshire, with the first individual planned to move into one of the schemes (Black Lion Road) on the 14/07/08. The other two individuals will join him over the coming three weeks.
Transition work is now commencing for a second scheme, which will support three individuals with Autism to live together.
Success in East Midlands:
Following a rigorous and lengthy competitive tender process, we have been informed that we are successful in gaining a contract across the East Midlands area, to provide Supported Living services to individuals who have very complex needs/present behaviours which challenge. Over the coming months, we will work alongside the relevant Commissioners to confirm the services that we will be providing.
This is both exciting and challenging, given the complexity of the Project itself and allows us to develop further into other areas in England, in addition to Shropshire where we are already well established.
New Supported Living Development in Rhondda Cynon Taf:
Following a successful tender application for a four person Supported Living Services within Rhondda Cynon Taf, we have been successful in recruiting the staff team and are now busy with the transition work in order to fully understand individuals’ needs. We are hopeful that we begin this service in it’s totality within the next 4 – 6 weeks.
